What is Holo?

Summary:

Holo is a peer-to-peer platform designed to host decentralized apps (DApps) built using Holochain, a unique framework that doesn’t utilize blockchain. It aims to bridge the gap between Holochain-based apps and the broader internet, creating a marketplace where these DApps can be accessed easily. The Holo network rewards its hosts with a token called HoloFuel. Before HoloFuel’s launch, an ERC-20 token named HOT was issued as a temporary placeholder. Arthur Brock and Eric Harris-Braun, both with a rich history in the realm of decentralized tech and currency solutions, founded Holo. The platform emphasizes its uniqueness in hosting P2P apps and its ability to handle billions of microtransactions simultaneously.

Additional Insights:

  • Holo vs. Traditional Blockchain: One of Holo’s main selling points is that it uses Holochain, a different kind of structure from traditional blockchains. Instead of having a single shared ledger (as with blockchains), every participant has their own fork, essentially creating a framework that can potentially scale without the constraints found in traditional blockchain systems.
  • HoloFuel’s Mechanism: HoloFuel is designed to be a mutual-credit accounting system where units of the currency are created or destroyed based on the real-time demands of the network. This means there is no mining or staking in the traditional sense, which could make the system more environmentally friendly compared to proof-of-work based cryptocurrencies.
  • Potential Impact: If successful, Holo could drastically change the way DApps are hosted and accessed, making decentralized applications more user-friendly and widespread. This has potential implications not just for tech enthusiasts but for the general population who might benefit from decentralized internet services.
  • Challenges Ahead: Like any new technology, Holo and Holochain will face challenges. This includes technical hurdles, the challenge of gaining widespread adoption, competition from other platforms, and potential regulatory issues.

Social & Mass Media In this section was taken into consideration the intensity of the activity of the social media page of the administrators , the speed of the community growth, the user interaction with the pages and as well the number of media appearances in the most important trade publications.

Audit & Security In particular, the team looks if the project is audited, how extensive the audit is,  at the bug bounty program, if it had incidents or not, at the liquidity on the exchanges and at the transparency of the information provided.

Tokenomics Under this criterion it is analyzed whether the project is inflationary or not, whether it has maximum supply, the percentage of supply released into the market at the time of the analysis, the rate of inflation per year, the distribution of supply in the portfolios as well as the vesting plan.

Ecosistem Development In this section is checked if the project has delivered on time what it proposed in the roadmap, the degree of participation in the project governance of the community, the activity and intensity of the developments published on github and what products or applications the team proposes to develop in the future.

Team & Developers It checks if the team is public, the quality of the team behind the project, the number of members on different domains, the experience in IT, finance and cryptography, the traceability of published information about team members and as well the number of developers in the project.

Product & Utility It checks if there are functional products, the number of users and the revenues generated by these products, the sustainability of the project and the usefulness offered in the cryptographic space and as well as in other fields of activity.

Partners & Investors It analyzes the partners and the degree of their involvement in the project, the capacity of investors and investment funds that can contribute substantially to the development of the ecosystem.
