Foundational Team
The minds behind Origin Protocol are Josh Fraser and Matthew Liu. Fraser’s background includes crypto involvement since 2011 and the foundation of Torbit, acquired by Walmart Labs. Liu, a Stanford engineering graduate, participated in Ethereum’s 2014 crowd-sale. The protocol also credits Yu Pan, an ex-Paypal co-founder and ex-Google executive. Unique Features
Origin Protocol provides avenues for creators and collectors to have increased control over digital content. White-label marketplaces under Origin Story feature integrated data analytics, aggregated listings, and custom aesthetics. Moreover, the NFT tooling aspect of Origin Story introduces inventive uses of NFTs, supporting features like token-gated access and NFT auctions. To expand reach, Story marketplaces are compatible with Polygon.
Origin Dollar, the protocol’s stablecoin, stands out by not necessitating staking and offering automatic yield accrual to users’ wallets. It leverages blue-chip DeFi protocols for yield, and its unique rebasing mechanism ensures higher APYs. Origin Dollar Governance (OGV) allows for voting on collateral allocations and benefits from the stablecoin protocol’s revenue.
